Egypt & Mt. Sinai

A two week tour that encompasses highlights of Egypt (Great Pyramids and Sphinx, Memphis, Aswan, Abu Simbel, and Alexandria), a Nile Cruise, and a trip to the beautiful Sinai Penninsula and Mt. Sinai. Enjoy a night hike on the mountain, a night’s camping, and breathtaking sunrise the next morning!

DAY 1 – Cairo
From your international flight, arrive in Cairo International Airport. Our agent will meet you at the airport and assist you through immigration, baggage claim, and customs, and will obtain your visa to enter the country ($25 cash). Transfer to the hotel. Enjoy a dinner cruise aboard the “Nile Pharaoh” complete with bellydancer show. Overnight in the hotel. D (cruise ship)

DAY 2 – Cairo
Enjoy a delicious breakfast and then enjoy a visit to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World — the Pyramids of Giza. Also gaze upon the Great Sphinx, one of the most famous monuments in the whole world. Travel by private A/C bus to Memphis, capital of ancient Egypt, and to see the famous step pyramid of Pharaoh Zoser at Sakkara (Saqqara). Finish the day at a carpet school to learn how carpets have been made since the time of the Pharaohs. Take the sleeper train to Aswan. B, D (Dinner on the train)

DAY 3 – Aswan
Early breakfast as you arrive in Aswan; check into your hotel. In the afternoon visit the Temple of Philae and High Dam of Aswan. Overnight in the hotel. B (train), L

DAY 4 – Abu Simbel / Aswan
Enjoy breakfast, then check out of the hotel. Early this morning, drive through the desert to Abu Simbel Temple by private A/C bus and then back to Aswan. Check into your Nile Cruise, and enjoy lunch while sailing to Kom Ombo. Overnight on the boat. B, L, D

DAY 5 – Kom Ombo
Visit this fascinating “dual temple” in Kom Ombo honoring of Sobek, the crocodile God of fertility, and Horus, the falcon god (also called “Horus the Elder”). Return to your cruise ship for lunch and sail to Edfu, where you will visit the best-preserved temple in Egypt, dedicated to Horus the Falcon God. Sail overnight to Luxor. B, L, D

Day 6 – Luxor
Enjoy breakfast on the ship as you arrive at Luxor. On the West Bank, visit the Necropolis of Thebes and the famous Valley of the Kings, where 64 of Egypt’s Pharaohs had their tombs carved out of solid rock. Then visit the temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari and the Colossi of Memnon. Return to cruise ship for lunch and an afternoon at your leisure (optional excursions available). Dinner and overnight on Nile cruise ship. B, L, D

DAY 7 – Luxor
Breakfast and check out of your Nile Cruise. Visit the East Bank, where you will see the amazing Temples of Karnak and Luxor. Take the sleeper train back to Cairo. Overnight on the train. B, D (train)

DAY 8 – Cairo
Breakfast, then visit the famous Egyptian Museum where you will view the greatest collections of Egyptian antiquities in the world, including the amazing King Tut treasures. Then visit historical Old Cairo, the Citadel, Mohamed Ali Mosque, the enormous Khan El-Khalili Bazaar, and Coptic and Muslim areas (the Hanging Church and the Ben Ezra Synagogue). Return to hotel and overnight. B

DAY 9 – Sinai
Breakfast and check out of hotel. After a full day’s travel to the Sinai peninsula, arrive at Mt. Sinai and take a night mountain hike with a special tour guide and enjoy a breathtaking sun rise. Overnight on mountain. B, L, D

DAY 10 – Sinai
After breakfast, visit the St. Catherine Monastery, then travel by private A/C bus to the city of Dahab. Spend the day at Color Canyon and enjoy lunch out. Overnight at a hotel in Dahab. B, L

DAY 11 – Sinai / Cairo
After a nourishing breakfast, check out of your hotel and head by private A/C bus back to Cairo. Check into your hotel. Take the rest of your day at leisure (optional excursions available) and overnight in hotel. B

DAY 12 – Cairo / Alexandria
Breakfast and check out of hotel. During this full day, travel to Alexandria by private A/C bus and check into your hotel. Visit Qaitbay Citadel, the Catacombs, Pompey’s Pillar at Kom El Shugafa, and the amazing Alexandria library. Overnight in the hotel. B

DAY 13 – Cairo
Breakfast and check out of your hotel. Return to Cairo this morning and check into your hotel. Take free leisure day (optional excursions available) and overnight in hotel. B

DAY 14 – Cairo
After breakfast (and depending on the time of your flight), bid farewell to this unforgettable country as you transfer to the Cairo International Airport for your return flight home. B
