DAY 1: Cairo
From your international flight, arrive in Cairo International Airport. Our agent will meet you at the airport and assist you through immigration, baggage claim, and customs, and will obtain your visa to enter the country ($25 cash). Transfer to the hotel. Settle in and enjoy the hotel, or try an exciting optional excursion, time permitting. Overnight in the hotel.

DAY 2: Pelsium
Today after breakfast enjoy places in Egypt visited by Jesus, including Pelsium, the ancient seaport and gateway to Egypt – one of the first resting places of the Holy Family. Follow the steps of the Holy Family to Bilbais in the Delta and then to Musturud, where a church is built over a well and blessed by the Holy Family. Overnight in Cairo. B

DAY 3: Wadi Natroun
Enjoy a trip to Samanoud on the Damietta branch of the Nile, where a church commemorates the resting place of the Holy Family. Then proceed to Sakha, where the Holy Family is also believed to have visited, and a place renowned for its Christian community in the Middle Ages. Round off the day with a visit to Wadi Natroun, a desert area said to have been blessed by Jesus, where four monasteries still exist. Overnight in Cairo. B

DAY 4: Cairo
Visit the holy well and sacred tree at Matariya on the outskirts of Cairo, a well-known resting place of the Holy Family and a popular destination among medieval pilgrims. Also, see the Church of St. George and the Fortress of Babylon in Old Cairo, which the Holy Family passed by. Visit ancient churches including the Hanging Church and St. Sergius. Overnight in Cairo. B

DAY 5: Cairo / Minya
See the Church of the Holy Virgin on the banks of the Nile at Maadi, south of Cairo, where Jesus and his mother, the Virgin Mary, boarded a sailing boat to the village of Deir Al-Garnousin in Upper Egypt. Travel by private A/C vehicle to this village near the town of Maghagha, where the Monastery of Arganos was later founded. Here, outside the Church of Virgin Mary, a well is believed to have provided Jesus and his mother with the water they needed. Also see the beautiful church hewn out of the cliff beside the river at Gabal Al-Teir in Minya. Overnight in Minya. B

DAY 6: Cairo
After breakfast, journey back to Cairo and check into your hotel. Enjoy an afternoon at your leisure, shopping and sightseeing in this bustling metropolis, or try one of our exciting optional excursions. B

DAY 7: St. Catherine
In the morning drive to St. Catherine, approximately 6 hours away from Cairo. Take time to enjoy the town; then dinner and early to bed in St. Catherine. B

DAY 8: Moses Mountain
Very early the next morning (about 2:00 a.m), fortify yourself with a cup of hot tea at the hotel before driving up to the starting point of the hike up Moses Mountain; arrive in time to enjoy a spectacular sunrise! Then back down to the hotel for breakfast. Enjoy an excursion to St. Catherine Monastery, and see the burning bush and a room of skulls. Transfer to Dahab by a modern vehicle and overnight in Dahab. B

DAY 9: Giza / Cairo
After breakfast, enjoy an excursion to the Pyramids at Giza including those of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus. Then visit the Great Sphinx, the head of a pharaoh with a lion’s body, which dates from the time of Chephren. The tour also includes a visit to the Valley at the Pyramids of Chephren. This afternoon visit the Egyptian Museum where you can see the great pharaonic treasures including the stunning gold sarcophagus of Tutankhamun. Back to the hotel and overnight. B

DAY 10: Cairo or Alexandria
Enjoy a free day in Cairo or choose an optional day tour to Alexandria*, the second capital of Egypt. In Alexandria, visit Qaitbay Citadel, built in the 15th century by Sultan Qaitbay on the spot of the Lighthouse at Alexandria. See the grand Montazah Palace, which combines Turkish and Florentine architectural styles, then move on to the new and much-acclaimed Alexandria Library. Also visit the Catacombs, a Roman cemetery cut out of the living rock. Return to Cairo and overnight. B

DAY 11: Cairo
Enjoy breakfast, then spend the day shopping on your own, drinking shai (tea), swimming in the hotel’s pool, or enjoy an exciting optional excursion in Cairo. Overnight in the hotel. B

DAY 12: Departure
After breakfast (and depending on the time of your flight), bid farewell to this unforgettable country as you transfer to the Cairo International Airport for your return flight home. B
